Focus Stacking: Hemerocallis fulva ‘Flore Pleno’
I am having success overall with my focus stacking I believe and I photographed one of my orange lilies that are blooming right now. This is a stack of 6 images that were shot at 1:3 at f/45 and merged in Photoshop. I cut out just the flower in the image and then put it…

Brassolaeliocattleya.
This is my new prized orchid plant. It is a Brassolaeliocattleya Leopard Waianae “Ching Hua”. Extremely attractive blooms with an incredible fragrance. I bought it a couple of weeks ago from my friend Linda at Seagrove Orchids. She has a fantastic greenhouse just for orchids and sometimes other exotic plants.

You did a good job, J. C. Raulston.
I got lost close to where I am interning a couple of weeks ago in Raleigh, NC. I came across this gorgeous looking arboretum along my journey and finally had the chance to go today. It has been raining constantly so the first day that it was pretty outside, I was going to set out…

Portfolio Pick?
I am working on my portfolio to turn in for my last critique before I get my diploma! We have to include 5 images for our portfolio. 5 does not sound like many, but it is hard to pick just 5. We also have to make sure that the images are perfect. This is one…

Miss Ruby Redd.
I have taken pictures of Amy many times, and I think this time by far has been my most favorite. She is stunningly gorgeous and has the most porcelain skin around. I did edit this picture, but only subtle things (i.e. color cast, minor blemishes, vignetting). She has now become a burlesque performer, you can…

Focus on the Flowers.
The light is so beautiful today and there is a tree blooming in my back yard. It smells so good and it is so pretty. I am hoping to find some female models soon to photograph in front of this gorgeous backdrop and the surrounding scenery! I like the extremely thin depth of field. I…

“Goodbye” School and “Hello” Real-World!
I recently graduated from Randolph Community College with a degree of Photographic Technology in Bio-communications Studies. I still have 8 more weeks of an internship to complete, but other than that, I am finished with photography school. I am glad that I got a good picture of myself in my cap and gown (courtesy of…

The Grandparents.
These are my grandparents on my fathers side. My dad just got these pictures not too long ago and I’m glad that I am able to have them and cherish them now. I never met my grandmother and I don’t remember meeting my grandfather because I was so young when he died. My grandmother, Peggy…

The Hunt Library.
I had a presentation on Friday for a project that I was working on and it took place in the new Hunt Library in Raleigh, NC. This place is truly spectacular in every sense of the word. They have high-end equipment for any professional results including an entire sound room devoted to recording, mixing and…
